The Cottage

Lightfoot House dates back to 1580, as part of Lightfoot Hall. It is a Grade 11 listed building and one of the oldest in Redmire, retaining many original features including beamed ceilings. The south facing house has a warm, sunny aspect and though located close to the centre of the village remains very secluded.

Outside, at the front of the cottage, there is a wooden bench where you can enjoy your morning coffee and newspapers (available in the village), or indeed a glass of wine in the evening. There is no garden.

Lightfoot House is available all year round, including Christmas and New Year, and is also available for short winter breaks.

We are very pleased to announce the complete refurbishment of the lounge at Lightfoot House. We have restored the original stone fireplace, and installed a log burning stove, together with complete redecoration and new carpet. We have also installed a flat screen television with freesat, DVD player, as well as the existing video and music centre.

The well equipped kitchen (left), at the back of the cottage, contains a storage heater, cooker, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, table and chairs. There is also the original dairy room which houses the fridge-freezer. There is a right of way from the back door across a grassed area and to the road. Access to upstairs is from the kitchen.
